Renowned as the UK’s leading literature and arts festival, the Hay Festival brings together readers and writers from around the world to share stories, inspire, and debate society’s most important issues. And in 2017, it’s reaching a number of notable milestones.

Not only is it celebrating its 30th fantastic year, the forward-thinking festival has also taken a significant step towards sustainability by switching to Good Energy!

We’re proud to have been major sponsors of Hay for the last four years and we’re even more excited to be bringing our 100% renewable electricity along with us this time.

Hosted in ‘the town of books’, Hay has always been at the forefront of progressive thinking, and switching to Good Energy is its next step towards achieving a more sustainable future.

Over the last 10 years, the festival has been actively managing its environmental impacts, recycling 82% of the waste produced on site, reducing energy consumption, providing free water standpipes, banning the sale of bottled water, providing a public transport network and free recharge points for electric cars. On top of that, this year’s buses will also be carbon neutral - made possible again by Good Energy!

Since 2006 we have engaged in a detailed programme to mitigate our environmental impacts. Our partnership with Good Energy has been key to this. This year’s event will be powered 100% by renewables & our buses will be carbon neutral too!

Andy Fryers, Sustainability Director, Hay Festival

At this year’s Hay, Good Energy will be once again will be leading the debate with a series of talks, looking at how to achieve a sustainable future for our communities and the world.

It’s fantastic to be back at Hay, it's the perfect setting to debate what matters most to us. By powering the festival for the first time, we hope to connect more people with our purpose of giving the choice of a cleaner, greener future for our communities.

Juliet Davenport, Founder & CEO, Good Energy

The Hay Festival will be running from the 25th May – 4th June 2017. We hope to see you all there!
